If that is all that happened in Weston during the last week, I feel that Weston is a very very safe place to live.

awww,,,,just a little chicken sh** case. Nothing to squawk about.

Yep, one really HOT car. Obvoius arson. Why else would someone steal a car just to turn around and burn it?

She left her car unlocked and her purse in the front seat? She deserved to have it taken!!! No matter what city I lived in, I would not do that. She was begging for it.

I think this story smells of lies. There is a lot more here than what he is telling us. Probably got shot by his wife while sitting in front of the TV and not doing the things she has been asking for. She finally shot him when he reached for the remote one more time. Or was turning the sound up to cover her nagging. Either way, he is lucky she didn't have a real gun.

Reo you think you live in a safe place???

Yes, I do feel we live in a safe area. That being said I also take common sense precautions, keep vehicle locked with alarm activated - no vaulables kept in plain sight, upgraded the cheap CRAPPY locks that Arvida had installed, have an alarm system and us it - clearly posted with signs and stickers, have dogs and beware of dog signs- one in front window and one in rear window. If someone is dumb enough to ignore all of that they had better hope I'm not home, I have an unusual work schedule.

It seems that it is all petty theft/ property crimes except for the last.
I am curious though, where did you come up with the info? I would like to be able to view a copy of the police blotter just to be more aware of any criminal activity going on in our area. Could be a good weekly article for one of our many local papers or city website. Make the citizens more aware of any potential problems in their nieghborhoods, the more eyes the better.

They have the police blotter in the Weston sections of the Sunday Herald and Sunday Sun-Sentinel.

Thanks, I don't read either of those papers regularly but I will keep an eye out for it. Maybe I'll just have to get up early and snag on of my neighbors on Sunday m0orning. In the meantime the Weston Express - Voice or one of those other "city" papers should consider putting that in there, I would read it.

Duh... Why leave a laptop computer laying around in a conference room? Only thing missing is the "free, take it" sign.

This doesn't explain alot. If the person wasn't home, why was their garage door open and the interior door unlocked? Out jogging? Ran to get some coffee? If they were home, perhaps they were out back or something. Perhaps they have a cleaning person or a kid who wants some money.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Cellphone missing: A Nokia cellphone and power cord were removed from an unlocked car parked in the 300 block of Racquet Club Road between 2 p.m. Nov. 16 and 6 a.m. Nov. 17. The value of the stolen items was not reported.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Once again, left something lying around and even left their car unlocked! These are crimes of opportunity. Most likely a person that wasn't out looking to commit crimes in Weston, but walked by and saw something nice just laying there and decided at that moment to try the door.

Can anyone else read between the lines here? How much you want to bet they went into the teenage kid's bedroom and no other room? This sounds like one of those "I have my friend over, who has two of his friend's over that I don't know that well." Well guess what? They probably scoped out the goods and came back. These are common and almost always solved by talking to "friends."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

If this is crime in Weston, we should all be very thankful. You want to see what crime is, take a ride east of here. We are really fortunate it is petty stuff and most because of people not protecting their own property.

I think we live in a very safe place. Don't we have the lowest crime rate in Broward County?

You are right on McP, it seems most of the crimes involve inside theft, people doing stupid things and becoming victims or petty theft. There, thankfully, doesn't seem to be any violent crime. People still should be careful though, you never know what kind of nuts are around.
