Yes, we don't know what our premiums will be in 2014. But, as an employer... I believe I will be putting the health benefits on w2's in 2011 (if I remember correctly). I don't expect anyone at our company to pay taxes on any of that. My response was more aimed at the thought that since it was on the w2, it would be taxable income and that isn't the case. I'm sure many people will assume that and post it as fact... then it spreads like wildfire over the internet.

I'm really on the fence with the healthcare reform and it is so hard to sift through fact, rhetoric and flat out lies... on both sides. So, I'm trying to remain calm and not spread rumors, but also try to get to the truth. Also, every email or chain letter that I receive, I don't forward or post without doing a bit of digging to see if I'm forwarding crap, half truths or the truth.

I really am amazed at how many people of both parties will be told something and then they just forward it like it is fact without questioning anything.

I used to be very passionate politically and I would debate (if that's what we call it... LOL.. I've never seen anyone here swayed by debate) till I was blue in the face or my fingers were numb. But, over the last couple of years... I've come to realize that pretty much everyone in Washington is just full of it and the lies and half truths on both sides turn my stomach. And the fact that the general public will fall for just about anything, would be funny if it weren't so sad. In some ways, I think the democrats are blowing it, but then I chuckle when I hear the republicans talking like they are so fiscally responsible and have done nothing wrong and they are coming to "save the day". They were voted out of office for a reason.

IMHO the only way to clean the mess is to clean house! Starting fresh would be a great idea.

If it is not income or adjusting income or tax, why does it need to be there? It may not be taxed yet but the dems have always wanted the extra revenue to spend frivolously.

The republicans lost there way and started acting like democrats for the last two to four years of Bush. Increasing government, spending like drunken sailors. But, the current group of Dems are spending like a mob of drunken sailors. Even Bernake said, the debt is scary and Obama can do nothing but raise taxes to keep interest rates low. Or maybe Obama will continue to walk in Carter's footsteps and we can see 12 and 13% mortgage rates again. And what will that do the housing market.

I think it has to be there because in the future they will need to know how much your plan costs for tax purposes on Cadillac plans. This gives businesses time to get used to adding the amount to the W2's. Makes sense to me. (The accounting part... not debating the political part - LOL)
