    Default Moving Company

I'd like to recommend a moving company. They helped me move a piano the other day. I am really glad I used them - very professional, friendly and know what they are doing.

Years ago, I rented an apartment that had a 6' grand piano. The people moving out said they'd sell it to us, and it seemed a great price. When we moved, and found out how much it would cost to move it, we told the new renters that they could have it for a "very reasonable" amount of money, which they did.

I've often wondered if that same piano is still there...

It was $239 to move the piano from University and Johnson to Savanna, Weston.

That happened to me years ago renting an aparrtment. The tenant moving out, who also happened to be the landlord, offered to sell me a sleep sofa for 50 bucks. I needed a sofa so I bought it. When I went to move it out with some friends they hated me it was so heavy. I moved to an apartment in Albany for about a year, when I was moving back to Massachusetts I didn't know what to do with it. I ended up standing it on and and pushing it into the closet... the rental manager came in to inspect the apartment and give me back the deposit, I prayed she did not open the closet (she didn't)... I took my deposit and high tailed it out of there. I laugh to this day the look on the face of the next tenant opening the closet door.

We paid about the same to have a large dining room set moved from Kendall to Weston. I think the cost of a local move depends more on the time involved than the weight.

yeah, another company said 75 per hour, minimum 3 hours

These guys said $239 flat. And had a lot of pictures of them doing various piano moving jobs and other moving jobs on their website. Plus they are local and it is their own business. I picked them.

Whatever you do, do not use a company called 2 Men and a Truck.

Are the piano movers? We are going to be moving to Plantation soon and we want to use a mover who specializes in moving pianos to move our piano (a pretty expensive piano).

Yes. We will wind up in Plantation Acres or Davie. We want land and we can't afford it here.

Anybody know of a reliable long-distance mover? We expect to move to Ottawa within a couple of years, but there are so many horror stories about movers.

Long distance moves seem to depend on the driver and his crew. The prices are relatively standardized unless you are doing it through your employer and the company has negotiated rates. My experience is only with moves within the US. I don't know how crossing the border complicates matters.
